Boss Pit Stop Barbecue owner Patricia Patterson and her husband celebrate their anniversary at their restaurant on Getwell Road.
Just five minutes away from the University District is a barbeque place that sells fish and wings. What makes it special is the fact that the meat literally falls off the bone.

It sits in the middle of Getwell Road across the street from Family Dollar. This busy street keeps the restaurant with a steady flow of traffic.

“People mostly come in for the fish and rib tips,” Pat Patteson, owner of the Boss Pit Stop Barbecue at 1621 Getwell Road, said.

The traffic is not the only thing that keeps customers coming back for more.

“The best food we have here is our turkey legs. The meat just falls right off the bones,” Meeka Williams, cashier at Boss Pit Stop Barbecue, said.

Despite the tender meat, the cost of these meals are also tender on the wallet.

“We have a special on Fridays and Saturdays where there is $1 off on fish and rib tip plates,” Williams said.

The crowd comes because of their popular plates that are known to wake the taste buds.

“Our turkey chops, rack of lamb, and fish plates sell fast,” Williams said.

Many members in sororities come here to place big orders for special gatherings.

“I would estimate the flow to be once every six months when they come in and order while setting the atmosphere with laughter,” Patterson said.

Hours are from Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 8 pm.

Being that they are so close to the University of Memphis, this location gains it perks.

“I feel that this location was slow at first but the  special sauce along with the food is so good that many people come back and the restaurant has grown ever since,” Williams said.

This is by far one of the WORST restaurants in Memphis. The food is disgusting and poorly prepared. The service is awful all the way around. The staff and owners are rude. The wife pictured here is the rudest of them all. I stopped eating here after the second try. I really wanted to support a minority owned business. My husband kept going until he finally experienced it for himself and agreed it was not worth it. Unless you like food that taste like 2 day old leftovers and you enjoy being treated like a welfare recipient stay away from the garbage dump.
