About MicroMemphis - University District
The University District neighborhood is centered around the University of Memphis Campus. It consists of seven distinct areas of Memphis, Tenn., with the common bond being its location to the university. Those seven areas are East Buntyn, Joffre, Messick-Buntyn, Normal Station, Red Acres, Sherwood Forest and University North. Citizens in the University District have never before had a single news source dedicated to their neighborhood, and the goal of MicroMemphis: University District is to unify the community. Known as hyper-local news, this site is dedicated to reporting about business, religion, crime, food and community events. Editors and reporters are the students of the University of Memphis Department of Journalism. The site is directed by Dr. Ashley D. Furrow, assistant professor of journalism. For more information, contact her at adfurrow@memphis.edu or (901) 678-2854.
