Jason Kirby, 36, bought food at the Tiger Den where Olumide Adedipe, a 20- year-old former university of Memphis student, approached him
Kirby turned around to see who he was talking to and if he recognized him but calmly turned back around and kept walking.
Moments later, Adedipe smacked the food from Kirby’s hands onto the sidewalk and then raised his fist as if to strike him.
“He was trying to be tough, but not too tough,” Kirby said.
Kirby said he then followed Adedipe around asking who he was and why he did this and if Adedipe knew who he was.
“He tried to walk away so I’d lose track of him,” Kirby said.
Kirby later said that afternoon the incident occurred, Adedipe was his neighbor on the fifth of Richardson Towers.
“I do feel a little bit afraid, but I am not too much afraid because he seemed a little reluctant when I was following him around,” Kirby said.
He went on to say that he doesn’t know what is wrong with him, but he seemed pretty cool last semester. Yet he hurriedly claimed that he does not know this young man who offended him.
“I think he realized that this was his school and he had something to lose,” Kirby said.
This isn’t the first time that the two have been in an altercation.
The two also got into an argument last semester in Richardson Towers.
Adedipe has been suspended from the University is no longer a student here at the University of Memphis.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest and until he is arrested, he will soon have a court date issued.
Captain Angeleer, police at the University of Memphis, said that Adedipe has three cases pending in court along with this case according to police reports on campus.
Angeleer said that he has already been arrested on a theft charge.
