The front of Best Sounds at 886 S. Highland St. remains boarded up after an incident on Jan. 30 when a man attempted to harm his girlfriend and hit the side of the store.
The man who ran his car into Best Sounds on South Highland Street on Jan. 30 was charged with aggravated domestic assault and reckless endangerment, but the store remains open for business.

Odies Walker is accused of getting into an argument with the mother of his child and then trying to run the woman over. But instead of harming his girlfriend, he hit the side of the Best Sounds

Best Sounds has been in the U District for 14 years.  It sells electronics such as radios and televisions.
A worker at Best Sounds was injured and taken to the emergency room.

Walker was charged with aggravated and domestic assault and reckless endangerment.

“I was very confused when I first saw the car inside the building. I live right down the street so I wanted to check it out because there was a crowd around the accident also,” said J.J. Greer.

According to the owner of Best Sounds, Valentin Martine, no one was severely injured.

“It scared me! We was eating lunch and step outside for a second, that’s when the car smashed into us. It was a blessing that we weren’t still inside,” said David Collins an employee.

As of right now, Best Sounds is still up and running ready to sell electronics to the U District.

“We were only down for a few days, Martine said. Right now I’m waiting on our insurance to figure out how much they will give us for repairs.”
